Many are tipping it as the top fitness trend for 2017, so the team from Low Wood Bay Health Club made sure they checked it out earlier in the year. Floatfit® HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) is a full body workout which takes place on water. The team loved it so much, they are bringing it to Low Wood Bay, and Fitness Instructor, Shauna King, tells us a bit more about what we can expect.
We are thrilled to be working alongside Scoop and Saddle this Summer when they will be serving ice cream from just outside the Rotunda at The Midland. I-do-like-to-be-beside-the-seaside holiday-goers will be treated to delicious iced treats, not from a traditional van, but from a very stylish vintage bicycle. Jess, the owner of Scoop and Saddle, tells us a little more about her company. Continue reading “The Midland Welcomes Ice Cream from Scoop and Saddle”
In July 2017 we will discover whether the Lake District is to become the UK’s first National Park to be awarded World Heritage status. Seeking inscription under the ‘cultural landscape’ category, this is defined as a combined work of nature and man. There have been many Lake District businesses, sometimes starting out as no more than a back room cottage industry, which, through perseverance, hard work and love of the landscape, have produced a rich heritage of products and service that define this beautiful part of the world. On 14th June 1997, our previous Managing Director, Michael Berry, was awarded the O.B.E. for services to training and tourism in Cumbria. Twenty years later, English Lakes strives to continue that legacy of
training within the industry. An important part of recognising the achievements of our employees is our quarterly Service Awards Lunches, attended by the entire Board of Directors. This is an opportunity to say thank you to team members for their previous twelve months service, and to present English Lakes vouchers and other significant +1 awards for service that goes above and beyond expectations.
The most recent Service Award Lunch was held at The Midland, and we’ve shared a few of the photos and comments from the event below.
In the third blog of our series on Help for Heroes and North East Military Vehicle Club trip to The Lake District and their visit to Low Wood Bay Watersports Centre, Kara shares her experience of being part of last year’s Lake District adventure. We celebrate with Keith Everson, English Lakes Purchasing Manager, as he turns Septuagenarian, or 70 years old to you and me. Keith has been with English Lakes for 46 years and is one of the company’s longest serving, and loyal, team members. At a recent Chef’s Meeting, Douglas Dale presented Keith with a bottle of Pol Roger and birthday wishes from us all. Continue reading “A Career for Life at English Lakes – Happy Birthday Keith!”
At English Lakes, we enjoy recommending local activities and events to visitors from around the world. For those wanting to explore the heritage of the Lake District, we’ve put together a list of five of our favourite heritage days out.
